I have been working on this site since 2007. Back then I started it up as a little hobby of mine while I was trying to learn more about web design, and I enjoyed helping people understand computers.
Before I go any further I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Adam Nugent and I got my first PC when I was thirteen and like many new users I quickly found several issues I didn't understand.
It was almost 3 years later when I next got my next computer and not having internet access, I spent a lot of my time messing around on it and inevitably broke things numerous times, which I had to fix myself. This was where my passion began, I could never let the computer win. I don't not understanding or knowing things and this pushed me to find the answers every time.
Down the line I was introduced to the internet. This just fuelled my hunger for knowledge; I wanted to learn everything that I could. Though it might sound very strange to you I feel that my computers have been the best friends I will ever have, I have something with them that no one could ever replace.
I'm not typical 'super geek', I don't know everything and I probably never will. Something I can say with great confidence is that I will never be beaten by a computer. I will always find the answer or a way around the problem. I could go into much more detail about myself and my life, but I feel this is not the place... So back to the point!
I create the tutorials on this site to the most basic detail that I can. This is not to be patronizing in any way shape or form. It is just to ensure that anyone can follow the directions without feeling overwhelmed or frustrated.
There are two extremes that I like to think about when composing my tutorials:
1. A 90 year old man/woman using a computer for the first time, maybe it's a device that really worries them and they don't understand it at all.
2.A young boy/girl that again is maybe using a computer for the first time and wants to understand how to do something.
I hope by keeping to those extremes while writing tutorials gives a simpler view point and makes it easy to understand.
With this in mind, you may understand why I will offer some tutorials that seem silly or male you say "everyone can do that". I do this to ensure that even the most inexperienced users can find the help they need in a simple and easy to understand way.
I hope to in time bring you thousands of tutorials via the standard "Picture and Text" method and more video style tutorials.
If I can help save one person a day some stress and educate them in the process then I've achieved what I set out to do. I hope you enjoy my site :)
